Daily fee
Daily fee cases in the enforcement court
If you do not pay the daily fees imposed, your case will be sent to our debt collection department – and in some cases to the enforcement court. Here you can find out what this means for you and what you can do to avoid a court hearing.
Before the case is sent to the enforcement court
If you do not pay the daily fees imposed, you will first receive a reminder from us. The reminder will inform you that the case may be forwarded for recovery by our debt collection department. In some cases, this means that the case will be brought before the enforcement court.
You will be given a deadline to either:
pay the outstanding amount, or
set up an instalment plan if the vehicle has been deregistered or re-registered
If you pay or enter into an agreement before the deadline, you can avoid the case being brought before the enforcement court.
If you are summoned to the enforcement court
If you receive a summons, it is important that you:
attend the hearing as instructed, or
contact the enforcement court if you have a valid reason for not attending
DFIM cannot change or reschedule the hearing, nor cancel it as long as the daily fees have not been paid. You can find contact details for the enforcement courts under “Contact the enforcement court” on this page.
If you wish to set up an instalment plan after the case has been referred to the enforcement court, this must be done at the hearing.
