Accidents in Denmark

In the event of a road traffic accident in Denmark, DFIM can help if the other party is unknown, uninsured or from abroad. Find out when to contact your insurance company and when to report a claim to DFIM.

Unknown motor vehicle (hit-and-run)

DFIM handles cases where the motor vehicle is unknown – for example in hit-and-run incidents where the other party has left the scene and no information about the vehicle is available.

Uninsured motor vehicle

DFIM handles cases involving uninsured motor vehicles – meaning the vehicle (party responsible) does not have the required third-party liability insurance.

Foreign motor vehicle in Denmark

If you have been involved in an accident with a foreign vehicle and do not have comprehensive insurance, you can submit an insurance enquiry to DFIM.

We will help identify the relevant foreign insurance company and its Danish claims representative, who can assist in handling your claim.

It is important to gather as much information as possible about the other party. At a minimum, we need:

  • the registration number

  • the country of registration

  • the date of the accident

  • the category of the vehicle (e.g. passenger car, lorry, bus)

We will forward your enquiry to our partners abroad, and you will receive a response by email. Please note that it may take up to six weeks to receive a response.
